curaçao: bed and breakfast – hacienda la bougainville
If a relaxing, rural retreat is what you’re looking for along with the convenience of being close(r) to downtown, this will be what you’re after. I previously thought that you could only find these types of rustic views over on the west side of the island, but upon turning into the street the B&B is tucked away from you really do feel like you’ve stepped into the countryside!
Walking onto the property, you are first greeted by a charming gift shop (be on the lookout for creations by local artists!) soon after which you’ll uncover a Zen room and an open-air sitting nook. La Bougainville stands detached from the main house in the midst of the sprawling fields of aloe vera (see also: http://www.aloecuracao.com/). Each of the spacious double rooms come with all the necessary amenities from wifi to a fridge (stocked with drinks upon arrival) and a modern bathroom that features a twin shower and double sinks. The sun-drenched courtyard opens up to a salt water pool you can cool off in after taking a stroll around the grounds, catching glimpses of St. Joris Bay in the distance.
La Bougainville’s daily rates include breakfast and for an additional fee a rental car can be secured. Find out more about their location and what they offer, visit their site: http://labougainville.com/ned/en/.
